so today
(actually
yesterday)
(actually
i decided
to be
a suckup.
because tomorrow
is parent teacher conferences
and i decided
to be
a suckup
and bake
red wine biscotti.
i was feeling
so good
so kind
so happy
while i happily mixed together
1-1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 sun-dried tomatoes, soaked in hot water for 20 minutes
freshly ground black pepper
salt
baking powder
1/2 cup red wine
1/4 cup vegetable oil
into a happy-looking
puke-pink dough
studded here and there
with pieces of
sun-dried tomatoes.
hey, it looked good
in the photos.
i even asked
for advice
from the provider
of the recipe.
(recipe is from Pinjing at Too Much Food.)
i’m sorry Pinjing
i did your recipe
absolutely no justice at all.
i’m really
so
so
sorry.
you’ll see why
i fucked it up
just keep reading.
i baked it for 30 minutes
took it out
let it cool
sliced it into generous
yet numerous enough
slices.
they were slightly soft
a cross between cookie
and bread.
they smelled good
i guess
not like the rich red wine smell
i was thinking of.
they smelled like
…
carbs?
slid them back into the oven
for 17 minutes
then took them out
flipped them
then slid them back in.
my mom came home.
they finished baking
but
for some reason
i decided to
let them “cool” in the oven.
they overbaked.
they don’t taste at all like red wine.
they taste like burnt croutons.
one thing i know is
i’m not sucking up
to anyone tomorrow.

Have you ever failed at being a suck-up?

[...] suckup fail [...]
They don’t look too burnt! I’d just snap off the browner parts and eat the rest
Haha that’s what we did! They still didn’t taste like much though :S I have to try this again, with more red wine! (Maybe?)
