the bitter truth

In Uncategorized on April 10, 2010 at 3:54 pm

i take medicine

a little

yellow

pill

daily.

it’s supposed

to help me

get my womanliness back.

isn’t that such a weird

word?

womanliness?

anyway,

today i went to the

chinese traditional doctor

because my mom thought

that traditional chinese medicine

had a different approach

to healing

and she thought

that it would

help.

and yes,

traditional chinese medicine

does have a different approach.

even if you go

to heal something

small

and simple

like…

a cold?

the doctor will:

ask you to stick out your tongue

feel your pulse

check out the nice layer of lanugo on your back.

and ask all sorts of questions about:

your eats

your sleeps

your organizational homework skills (???)

the approach is a lot more

holistic,

i guess.

anyway

now i have chinese medicine

from all sorts of stuff

like…

dried herbs

dried roots

nasty other bits and pieces of dried plants.

it was delivered to our house

because it had to be brewed

for 2 hours.

it’s nasty-looking

all brownish

and medicine-like.

and…

i can assure you

it tasted even worse.

it did nothing

to improve my mood.

i often find

that doctors’ visits

of any kind

leave me feeling

depressed

and annoyed.

i’m in a bit of a

funk right now.

which is a shame

because

i’m trying to finish my english homework.

boo.

How do doctors’ visits affect your mood?

  1. Oh man, I totally can sympathize with you on having to drink that brewed medicine; had to do it all last summer. It’s like having your teeth pulled 😦

  2. I’m slowly getting used to it… Still nasty though, I need something sweet afterwards! Usually a prune… they’re like a natural candy! 😀
